Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Release Date: October 18, 2011
Paperback: 304 Pages
Rating: 5/5

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

My Thoughts

If you are a fan of Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, you will enjoy Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Half-Blood is similar, but different from Vampire Academy, and has a fresh new take! Half-Blood contains the mythological descendants of Pures and Half-Bloods, and zombies called Daimons! From action to romance, what more can you ask for?!

I love the story behind the mythological descendants of Pures and Half-Bloods and even Daimons, kind of. I think it is interesting the story has some kind of hierarchy and rules to follow between the Pures and Half-Bloods.

Alex is a determined and fearless girl. She will do whatever it takes to do what she believes in doing. I think she is somewhat of a relatable girl. Often times I find myself doing whatever I believe are right. Alex is strong as she has been trained before and is continuing to train to become a Sentinel. Her trainer, Aiden, is very much like an eye candy. Someone to look at, but can never have.

There is romance between Aiden and Alex, but it is forbidden. Pures and Half-Bloods can never be together, thus, forming forbidden love between the two. Although it is forbidden, I can very much see them together in the future regardless of the rules that they cannot be together. I am rooting for them!

The action between Alex and the Daimons is fierce! It takes quite an interesting twist too!

Half-Blood is a book you cannot put down! A one-sit read! A book you would not want to put down!
