Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep
Publisher: Kensington
Released Date: July 26, 2011
Paperback: 336 Pages
Rating: 5/5

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.

But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why—especially since I should have been the one who died. . .

My Thoughts

Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep is a novel about Gwen, a Gypsy girl, who starts to attend Mythos Academy to learn to use and advance her powers.

I extremely enjoyed Touch of Frost and it was a quick read for me. I started it Saturday afternoon and finished it Sunday afternoon, so I finished it in about a day.

The setting and details of this book was very descriptive. It was really easy to follow this book. I felt like I could be a student at Mythos Academy if I had any powers or was descendants of any of the Greek Gods.

I really enjoy Gwen’s character. She is a Gypsy and can see things. She is able to find things that have been lost. She uses that power to help her peers find their lost items for a price. She is a new student and like any new student who enters any new school, she does not have any friends. She is only known as “that Gypsy girl.” I like her because I do not think she is afraid to be herself. I do not think she is the type of person who wants the attention or have “fake friends.” I think she is a very sincere and caring person. Although she may be a loner, she does interact with her fellow peers through her “business.” I think Gwen is one ass-kicking Gypsy girl!

There is fighting in this book and it is awesome! I really enjoy it! It is interesting. I think she and Logan could be partners in all these fight scenes because it seems to go so well for the both of them. Both of them are ass-kickers! The characters bring flavors to the fights.

There is some mystery to this book. I really enjoy the mystery to it. It was surprising and I never thought it would have ended up like this, but it did. It kept me engaged to find out the truth behind it all.

There is some romance to it, but it was not what I have expected. It is so hard to tell without spoiling so I will just leave it there.

Overall, I think this book is my new favorite because I deeply enjoyed it. I could not put it down and the words flow through me. It is one heck of a book that readers should pick up!

I’ve heard of this and already ordered it online. I am hoping it comes in soon because it sounds like a fantastic book. I know this will also be my book too. I’ve actually read the first chapter at a bookstore the other day but didn’t bring enough money to purchase it.

I like knowing that she is a psychic of somewhat. Makes everything more interesting! Thanks for the review Ivy!

Touch of Frost sounds amazing! I love the paranormal genre and would be checking this out!

I’ve not read a book about Gypsies neither so that’ll be an interesting new read!
